For their Fall ‘04 concert, Ensemble Pamplemousse explores the subconscious in an experiment of cross-cultural and cross-medium collaboration with Swedish artist Peter Köhler. A series of symbols given to the composers induced a creative response from each, as a visual spark to push the collaborative process.

Each shape holds a dramatic collection of information and each composer a different perspective. Yet some shapes touch under the conditioned surface. Archetypes that we understand irrationally. As
composers interpret and develop the shapes aurally, Köhler further develops the concepts visually, culminating in a side by side performance-installation of two forms of art, the eyes and ears unified and triggering one set of archetypal reactions.

New works by New York City composers: Yoav Gal, Craig Woodward, Tristian Perich, Sebastian Amorza, Felix Pastor and Rama Gottfried will be premiered.

Ensemble Pamplemousse in...

This week Gothamist is particularly excited about a performance a bit different from what's normally on our concert schedule. Ensemble Pamplemousse , a 10 person musical troupe, has been described as 'extremely forward looking' and 'breathtakingly virtuosic', however we're pretty certain that words can't describe what will take place during their three performances later this week, nor would a word do it justice. Some of New York City's finest composers will collaborate with Swedish artist Peter Köhler to bring you an aurally and visually stimulating experience; a unification of the senses. Each person and action triggering another, coming full circle in a performance quite unlike any you have seen.
